Mirage (de_mirage) is a Bomb Defusal map featured in Counter-Strike. It was first released in June of 2013 as an official map of the game. It has become quite popular on the competitive scene.
Overview
The Terrorists objective is to plant the bomb or to eliminate all of the Counter-Terrorists. The Counter-Terrorists objective is to eliminate all of the Terrorists before the bomb is planted or to defuse the bomb after it is planted. For years, Mirage was a popular custom map before Valve made it an official map.
Deployment
De_mirage was originally designed and created by Michael Hull (a.k.a. BubkeZ). It was originally called de_cpl_strike in Counter-Strike 1.6. The original inspiration was inspired by Sandstorm (the fifth extra mission in Counter-Strike: Condition Zero Deleted Scenes storyline) and featured elements and design ideas from cs_italy and de_dust.
In Counter-Strike: Global Offensive the map was visually overhauled and some minor gameplay tweaks were added for better competitive play. The textures were updated to make the map reflect a more Middle Eastern theme, departing from its original Italy style. It was the first official map release for Counter-Strike: Global Offensive.
