Dust II (de_dust2) is a Bomb Defusal map featured in Counter-Strike. It is the successor to the original Dust map (de_dust).
The Terrorists objective is to plant the bomb or to eliminate all of the Counter-Terrorists. The Counter-Terrorists objective is to eliminate all of the Terrorists before the bomb is planted or to defuse the bomb after it is planted. The map has two chemical weapon stashes that play out as the bombsites A and B. The map is also based on a desert setting in the Middle East. It is arguably the most recognized and most played map in the competitive rotation.
De_dust2 was created by David Johnston, the original creator of de_dust. It was originally added in Counter-Strike patch 1.1. It was added to the Counter-Strike (Xbox) game using the Counter-Strike: Condition Zero textures. It was graphically enhanced in Counter-Strike: Source and in Counter-Strike: Global Offensive it was texturally enhanced again. The floor textures were changed to concrete and the wooden doors were replaced with metal ones to make them harder to penetrate.
